Connect With Us →A picture book-style professional development series for the adults who run our schools — because even grown-ups need a good story to understand operational excellence.
A children's book series built for school operations teams — each story is a professional development tool that invites your team to reflect on their own school day systems, and what excellence truly looks like, feels like, and sounds like when those systems are working.
A joyful, rhyming look at the flurry of hellos, hugs, and busy hallways that greet every child first thing in the morning — and the people who make arrival feel like a warm welcome home.

A heartwarming tale about the cafeteria team who make sure every single child feels seen, fed, and cared for — because lunch is never just about the food.
We have books for every school operational infrastructure coming to you in phases.
The CHOSEN Standard is a collection of picture book-style professional development resources, written for school operations teams. These aren't books for students. They're for the adults who keep schools running — front office teams, operations directors, facilities leads, and every person whose daily excellence students rarely see but always feel.

Shevika B. Mitchell is the Founder and CEO of The CHOSEN School Operations Collective, where she partners with schools and educational organizations to build operational systems that create exceptional experiences for scholars, staff, and families.
With over 10 years of executive leadership experience in charter school operations, Shevika has successfully launched schools, led multi-campus operations, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, and developed sustainable systems that strengthen organizational performance. Her expertise spans strategic planning, school nutrition, operational excellence, leadership development, compliance, financial stewardship, and organizational growth.
Shevika's foundation in school operations was built from the ground up by founding two prominent charter schools as the Founding Operations Director, standing up entire school operating systems from day one at both KIPP Atlanta Schools and Movement School. In that founding work, she designed and launched every operational infrastructure that allowed each school to open its doors ready to serve students and families well.
Driven by a belief that every child deserves a school where excellence is reflected in every detail and that strong systems are the foundation for educational equity, Shevika is committed to helping schools build cultures of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Her mission is to empower educational leaders to create systems that not only support day-to-day success but leave a lasting impact on the communities they serve, keeping the impact on children at the center of every decision.

A reflection from a leader we had the privilege of mentoring through two years of building operational systems from the ground up.
…I have had the honor and privilege to be mentored by Shevika Mitchell. Shevika is a true Jack of All Trades when it comes to building systems, normalizing structures, and creating a functioning environment with minimal resources. Shevika comes equipped with solutions for any situation. Yet, the one thing that stands out the most about her is her heart — her heart for other human beings, and the work it takes to make a mess into a beautiful masterpiece…

Over the past two years that I have been in the operational work environment, I have had the honor and privilege to be mentored by Shevika Mitchell. Shevika is a true Jack of All Trades when it comes to building systems, normalizing structures, and creating a functioning environment with minimal resources. Shevika comes equipped with solutions for any situation. Yet, the one thing that stands out the most about her is her heart — her heart for other human beings, and the work it takes to make a mess into a beautiful masterpiece. Operations is hard work. It is challenging, difficult, isolating at times, and often overlooked. Most people would not sign up to do it because of these reasons and so many more, but then you have that one person who is willing to go the length, do the work, and take the time to bring order into chaotic spaces. That person is Shevika Mitchell. I would not be the woman I am today without her guidance.
